VA32 host a season of Impact Volunteer Groups in Chintsa!
As well as running long-term volunteer programs in education and conservation VA32 host "Impact Volunteer Groups" who travel to South Africa together as a team and complete an "impact" project in the village. From turning a historical waste ground into a fun and safe play area with a jungle gym for the local kids, to converting a rusted old shipping container into a clean, working clinic, these projects have a big impact on the Chintsa community. VA32 wrote a great blog explaining what their Impact Volunteer Groups do in Chintsa, where they come from and where the Projects that they work on come from - click here to read the article.
Throughout this winter VA32 have been host to seven Impact Volunteer Groups, the last of which arrived in Chintsa this weekend. With local staff Denver & Milton co-ordinating the projects, a wealth of construction and maintenance work has been completed. This season saw vast developments in the building of Sports Centre facilities in the village including building fencing around the sports centre, building a volleyball court and building a netball court behind the existing Chintsa Sports Centre, as well as other smaller "maintenance" work projects which support existing initiatives like building shelves and painting murals in the Chintsa East School feeding scheme kitchen and replacing broken fencing at the village plant nursery.
