Buccaneers has been described as being like a backpackers village because of the way it's spread out over the 8 hectare of wild coastal forest right next to the stunning Chintsa beach. Most people say that it's a place to come home to. A legend in its own time. For us it is home and for the past 12 years we have been sharing it with people just like you - travelers from all over the world.

We like to think that at this stage we know what you want. These are some of the things we have learnt: Travelers come in all shapes and ages. They tend to fall into (or between) these categories:

There's a lovely lively bar which has certainly seen some great revelry in its time. Our stunning tropical pool is a buzzy spot in the summer months when a gorgeous poolside cafe offers decidedly decadent refreshments (including divine pizzas!). And every day we have some sort of free activity so you can chill and meet the rest of the gang.

And for you, the quieter ones, Buccaneers is a haven of tranquility and natural delights - quiet beach walks or canoe trips up the Chintsa River and a secret bird hide on our own dam.

We've created a wide range of accommodation and activities to suit these different needs.

We are always being asked why, with one of the best coastal settings in South Africa, we haven't moved into the sophisticated 5 star league. Quite simply - we love what we do. We prefer the whole laid back friendly style, the fact that only first names count and the sense that we're all kindred spirits. We love our type of travelers - friendly, curious about every aspect of our beautiful country, tolerant of some of the shortcomings of the rural scene (power failures!) and so enthusiastic and well informed about life in general.
