Buccaneers Backpacker Hostel - South Africa
Buccaneers hostel has been described as being like a backpacker village because of the way it's spread out over the 8 hectare of wild coast forest right next to the stunning Chintsa beach in South Africa. Most people say that it's a place to come home to. A legend in its own time. For us it is home and for the past 12 years we have been sharing our hostel with people just like you - backpackers from all over the world.

Fair Trade Tourism
THE MARK OF A GOOD HOLIDAY
Buccaneers has been certified by Fair Trade Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) since 2010. This certification supports the Buccaneers brand in standing out for our non-certified opposition, for the good work which we strive to do within our business and the local community. The certification process analyses the whole business and all practices in detail and ensures that we support fair and responsible tourism in South Africa through treating staff fairly and respectfully, supporting local businesses and community members, supporting and encouraging care for the local culture and environment, and supporting responsibly minded travelers in South Africa.

What's in a Name?
A lot we think!
That's why Buccaneers is looking for a suitable name for our brand new, luxury suite. The final suite will be completed over the next few months and will be the third in our series of "million dollar view" rooms. The two existing Suites include Lungi Suite and Tutu En-suite; both units come fully fitted with double beds, en-suite shower rooms, sundeck and (of course) amazing views! The suites are going down an absolute storm with guests and are fully booked most nights of the week.
Wild Walk 2013
The WESSA Wild Walk is an initiative which began very close to our hearts in here in Chintsa. Adopted "local" Jacqueline, a fun loving lass from Leeds in the UK, spent several years fundraising from home for Chintsa volunteer organisation VA32. One of her bigger campaigns involved walking from Leeds to London on a "Walk Talk" where participants could join any leg of the walk and were encouraged to talk to each other and raise awareness of both local issues as well as issues in the targeted charity and country. In 2011 Jacs and her partner Owen decided to move their fundraising efforts to Chintsa and as a follow on from the Walk Talk campaign in the UK, created the Wild Walk 2011. This walk covered a whopping 380km - the entire stretch of the Wild Coast - and lasted for one month.
5 Things you can do to Support Responsible Tourism in Chintsa
It's Responsible Tourism Week 2013 and in support of the 5th annual Responsible Travel Week we thought we'd put together a list of things that you can do to support and encourage responsible tourism in Chintsa, South Africa.
So here goes:
1. Join the Community Preschool Project for the day. Buccaneers offers a half day experience in the new Nthuthukweni Creche which was recently built and handed over to the community. Travellers can join the local Mama's and volunteers in helping to care for and play with the littlest learners of Chintsa. Extra hands are really vital in the running of the preschool.
